The plaque over the beck at the junctions of Denby Dale and Ings Roads show the approximate position of the Wakefield Ings Turnpike. Both roads upkeep being paid for by charging travellers going west. Many still preferred the Kirkgate route through the town and avoid paying the toll charge. | |
